In the time leading up to Jesus’ arrest and finally his death on the cross, he is betrayed by his closest friends and his enemies. Most strikingly is that Jesus is betrayed by his Father. In this sermon, we will look at what lies beneath our betrayal, the aloneness that we experience when we are betrayed, and finally the antidote to betrayal. In the story of Peter’s betrayal, we find that Jesus dies for betrayers like us and he experiences betrayal greater than we can even imagine.
