Discipleship in Mission: Barnabas and Saul
Delivered 03/30/2008 on Acts 12:25-13:13 by Carter Sanger
On Easter we considered the implications of the resurrection of Jesus. If Jesus really rose from the dead, then he was telling the truth - that all authority on heaven and on earth has been given to him. (His defeat of death shows His power exceeds that which previously no man could escape.) He commanded his followers to go and make disciples of the nations. What does discipleship look like? In this sermon we’ll look at how discipleship engages us in the mission of Christ and calls us to identify with those to whom we are called. Identifying with others is not an easy thing. It costs you something - time, energy, long-suffering and patience. It can cost you the name you’ve made for yourself. But it’s worth it as we see the disciple become the disciple-maker and glory in the advancement and growth of others.
