The story of grace found in the sacrifice of Christ is wildly extravagant – to the point that we don’t know exactly what to make of it. It’s as if our own taste buds aren’t prepared for it. So let me take you into Peter’s story. Peter’s zeal is unrivaled among his peers. He would become a leader in the Christian church – a shepherd of shepherds that would be a part of laying the foundation for the church to be established. But not yet. He’s not ready. While he has seen grace at work as Christ healed the sick and the lame, there is still something missing. Grace must be tasted firsthand.
