Peter’s Feast
Delivered 4/24/2009 on John 13:36-38; 18:15-17, 25-27; 21:1-19 by Carter Sanger
When a person is first converted to Christ or any cause, he is often very zealous and gets involved in helping the cause spread. Unfortunately, that initial zeal eventually fades away and he grows fatigued and frustrated. Instead of loving others, he grows bitter towards them. His efforts to support the cause take a turn for the worse and he eventually feels like he has failed it. When you fail a cause, it eventually dies. Christ also died because his people failed him. The difference between a convert to a cause and a convert to Christ comes after its death. Christ rises from the dead. His resurrection offers us a feast of grace. If we are to serve God’s people, then we must know what that grace tastes like firsthand.
