Jesus, Master of Rest
Delivered 2/07/2010 on Mark 2:23-28 by Nathan Carico
After experiencing the brokenness of our world, human beings put systems in place hoping for some sense of rest. Like children who are victims of abuse, or perhaps children of alcoholics or drug addicts. Exhausted by the continual chaos, the child becomes a perfectionist. Striving for rest she is exhausted by her own perfectionism. She would give anything to SLOW DOWN her mind a little so that she could rest. You may not have experienced things just like this, but I am guessing you know what I am talking about.
Human beings in a fallen world need Sabbath. We need rest. Its built into our fabric…We need rest from our work, we need rest from school work, we need rest from our anxieties, some of you desperately long for rest from chronic diseases, but mostly I think we need rest from the systems, the techniques, the workable solutions that we use that dangerously give us a false sense of Sabbath. Jesus is Master of Rest. Jesus is Lord of the Sabbath.

Are the discussion questions for Feb. 14th ready? I was wanting to send them to our small group for this Wed. night.
Thanks.
