What do you get for the guy who’s got everything? What do you get for the guy who’s got everything but still feels empty and numb? What do you get for a society that has everything but is still empty and numb?
In this clever commercial (to watch this commercial you follow the link and please excuse the dead space around the first minute of recording as we did not pick up the audio from the commercial), Audi suggests that humans have been under a spell by “hollow status symbols” and that these status symbols (BMW, Mercedes, Lexus) have come to define us. What is Audi’s answer to lift the spell?? Of course, an Audi! How about another HOLLOW STATUS SYMBOL! YES! Thats what we need to break the spell! This is a clever little ad isn’t it?
In the story of the rich young ruler (Mark 10:17-22), Jesus gives us another answer to the question, “What do you get for the guy who’s got everything?”
