It has been exciting to see the Lord working this past year with regard to our awareness, interest, and efforts to be engaged in mercy ministry. We see Jesus going to the sick, the blind, the lame, and the lost. He explains in a parable that when we feed the hungry, welcome the stranger, clothe the naked, visit the sick, and go to those in prison that we do these things for Jesus himself (Matthew 25:31-40). In the parable often referred to as the Good Samaritan he calls us to be a neighbor to anyone in need. The work of the gospel is meant to accompany the words of the gospel.
Our Deacons have been studying this topic over the past several months and want to take steps to better equip ourselves as a congregation to help the community around us. To that end, we’ve put together a “Talent Bank Survey” that want every adult in our congregation to complete. It won’t take long. Filling it out doesn’t commit you to anything, but gives us a better handle on who we can call if and when opportunities to serve the community arise.
